Grim Comes a Callin'

It appeared as though the skies were sending an ill-portent when Susan came out of the hospital, Friday morning at around three o'clock. Thunder and lightning were playing across the skies dancing from cloud to cloud and lighting up the undersides of those clouds providing an ominous glow to the world below.

Susan managed to get to the main gate...just as a blinding pain struck her chest and she crumpled to the ground just inside the gate of their home. Evidently she'd been struck by lightning and realized, just before everything went black, that her heart had stopped...

That was where River found her, laying, crumpled on the masonry walkway. A clap of thunder heralded Grim's arrival, while Greta and River sobbed, mourning the loss of Susan, their step-mother-in-law.

...but Susan had known that she'd lived a good long life, that she'd gotten to see Blair and her family again...and well, she was ready to go to what awaited next. And well, her family and her husband were left to mourn her passing.

Life was fleeting and they all knew it. Moving Susan's headstone into the family graveyard was the next task of the day, but afterwards, they decided that well, despite their family's loss, they needed to take time to celebrate life and head to the spring festival...and knew that that was what Susan would have wanted; for them to realize that life went on.

So in order to celebrate Susan's departing this life, they all decided to partake in a "pie-eating contest" - don't know how to feel about THAT one.

At about the thirty minute mark of wolfing down pies, Tatsuyoshi said, "Flark it" and quit. and well...it wasn't certain who won the pie-eating contest because...

Braden realized that the pie-eating contest was a bad idea especially on a spring day which was pushing 24 degrees celcius.

Yay, nothing says you lost the pie-eating contest like upchucking your guts out on the ground. Probably might want to go easy on that stomach, eh, Braden?

Don't Worry; Be Happy

Well, it appeared as though Susan had found herself something to do becoming a trauma surgeon in the hospital. And it was usually around 3AM that she found herself exiting the hospital into the cold brisk very early morning air. Turning on stereo, she whistled along to Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry; Be Happy" as she drove home, after all, what more could be more delightful than a song whose lyrics included the words:

"'Cause when you worry your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy

Of course, no troubles, no troubles at all...

Later on that morning, Haruo got the bright idea to go play with bees again...this time in his underwear. He's really asking for it this time. C'mon, buddy, at least wear a cup. (oops - mentioning any parts may get me banned) toque (there...that's better).

Braden on the other hand, decided to do the smart thing and cut vegetables for lunch.

Nothing eventful happened on this day and everybody went to sleep happy.

Haruo, the next morning, decided that he would go back outside and play with the bees. He's really asking for it this time around.

Dinner; life was good.

The following morning saw him deal with that big hunk of wood sitting on the sculpting wheel.

...and everything was happy...(sick of this yet?)

Life's Goings-On in Legacy Island

The Chikamori family, it appeared, was settling into Legacy Island very nicely. Haruo decided that it was necessary to have homegrown honey so well, the fact that the new house had bee-hives was an added plus. That way the family could have fresh honey every morning with their pancakes or whatever.

Of course bee keeping meant wearing protective clothing to protect against bee-stings. Being stung by bees was not considered a highlight of the day by any means, so it well behooved any sim to take proper precautions in order to make sure that they remained intact.

River made breakfast that morning. She had mastered her cooking skill so her cooking was on par with her husband's cooking skills. And of course, her breakfasts were absolutely delicious.

The house and its surrounding property was well maintained and the family graveyard was just across the field so even the deceased could have their own space close by.

When River was done making breakfast, ensuring that the whole family had a full serving of breakfast leftovers whicch would be consumed gratefully, laundry awaited. It wasn't a favorite task of River's but well, the family went through clothes and it had to be done.

...and then it was time to pay the bills and collect the mail that showed up in the mailbox. It was certainly interesting to have to sort out between junk mail and bills and well most of it got pitched in the recyling.

It was roughly about that time, when River was pitching a unsolicited love-letter into the trash where it belonged that agonzied screaming came from the backyard. You see there is a routine...smoke the box, retrieve the honey, smoke the box, feed the bees, smoke the box, clean the hive...any deviation from this will get you stung. Haruo didn't remember the routine; so Haruo got stung. C'est la vie.

It's even more fun that watching "Dancing with the Stars." Maybe they should have bees on the show so the contestants get stung every time they mess up a dance move.

Brianna recently got herself a promotion to Department Head and had to go to city hall to do some requisitioning funds. Evidently there were shortfalls in the school budget that needed to be addressed and well, since Brianna was on fast-track to become Vice-Principal, she needed to be well versed in negotiating a budget review and requisition funds from the city. It was all for the benefit of the children...after all.

The basketball hoop was getting a lot of use from the Chikamori family, after all, what was more fun than playing basketball on an afternoon after work duties were done.

River still had to periodically sell a print though with suing the living caca out of ne'er do wells who decided to slander her good name made a heckuva killing in terms of finances. And with the fact that the Chikamoris were celebrities in their own right, most of the judges tended to side with them. Life was good. But still, River liked to sell paintings and she did so, especially to those who appreciated her artistic eye.

...and of course River always had time for her husband; who'd realized just how River was feeling and did spend time with her. After all these years, taking the spouse for granted is not the way to go, you have to keep the romance alive in order to stay together. And well, he needed to put in that effort.

Of course, an abduction attempt, just as things were getting hot and heavy, was a great mood killer. And well, River made the alien understand just what a bad move that was with a right hook to the jaw. Maybe next time don't come calling at the Chikamori residence. I'm sure that alien is going to be feeling that one for a while.

Well...once the alien had left, things got hot and heavy in the shower. Hey, kill two birds with one stone; get clean...get to your happy place. It's true...she whinnies like a horse. Well, she's much cuter than a horse though.

Well, that's one way of taking care of the "wants to woohoo with..." wish. Whatever turns your crank, eh, Haruo?
