Kyla's Eventful Day

Since Braden had flights the next morning, he and Greta ate breakfast, then had a passionate kiss before he had to leave for work at 0500hrs.

Morning was early for Karina and Colin as well, as they ate breakfast and made preparations to head for military school - they were doing well and it appeared as though Master Corporal Douglas had stopped yelling at them because well, hell-week pretty much had gotten through to the students that they needed to do their schoolwork.

Kyla got busy with her tasks for the day - laundry, cleaning house and harvesting the garden.

After River and Haruo had their morning breakfast; River headed up to do her painting and Haruo sat down at the couch to read a skill-book.

After Kyla's tasks were done, she ended up fishing in the pond. Greta finished up work and headed back home.

The cows and chickens evidently didn't have much complaint after all; there was plenty of grass and the chickens had feed. They really didn't have much to complain about even if they wanted to complain, which they didn't.

Evidently chili was the order of the night that night and well, Kyla made some really good rip-roaring, throat-scorchin' nine-alarm fire chili that night. Even the kids got their esophagus seared with 1,041,427 Scoville units of painful heat. For some of them, it was probably necessary to have fire-extinguishers on hand.

Poor River.

Kyla decided that it probably would be better to stick to the teppanyaki grill and make teppanyaki grilled chicken. At least it would eliminate the need for the Cape Garner Fire Department to be on speed-dial.

After that throat-blistering dinner, Haruo went to play piano, Karina and Colin went to play with explosives (OK...probably not explosives, but still chemicals that could potentially react badly if mishandled. Kyla went to deal with the laundry for a second time that day.

Then and only then was Kyla able to call it a night.
