Torturing Plants and a Fender Bender

Weekends were great because the concert grand piano got a lot of use, thanks to the kids now learning how to play piano (yay...for the Kids Can...mods series). Haruo sat down to write a book, as did Greta and River decided to sport her new look while playing a game of pool downstairs.

Colin on the other hand decided that "playing with chemicals" was something that he'd rather be doing.

As usual; Haruo and River got frisky. What else is new?

Yep...REALLY frisky..."ow...a little more gently, please?"

...and night descended upon Cape Garner Island yet again...

However morning was not far behind and Braden went out to play with the chicks (Is there a reason for playing with chicks, other than immediate gratification. In fact does playing with chicks do anything, like encourage chicks to stay, so that the output of the chicken coop increases? Because they always seem to fly off...or run-off since chicken flight characteristics...leave something to be desired. So far it seems that playing with chicks is a rather dead-end action)

After getting in his requisite morning poultry petting, Braden decided that he needed breakfast. While he was eating, his wife and kids came downstairs for their morning. After a time, his mother did too and Braden got himself ready for work. Luckily the new wedge-caps had come in the day before...RCAF blue.

...and he headed off to work in his sports-car. That thing was a beast but it was perfect for his fighter pilot ego.

Haruo also went out to pay attention to the poultry while Greta racked up scores on Skee-ball before work.

...then Haruo got to work on the garden, wept over dead plants and then recycled them and talked to himself (actually talked to the plants, but whatever you prefer - like they're really in the mood for talking to you after they've been too busy screaming in agony from the pain you inflicted on them, Haruo, from picking their various body parts...from their stems). I'm sure plants feel some sort of pain from being cut, picked or whatever...we just choose not to acknowledge it because it doesn't fit in with our human sense of pain. I'm just gonna go have myself a nice tasty CHICKEN! Oh, Chaaarles...c'mere...you...let me wring your miserable little neck, I'm in the mood for a little stew!

River decided to risk incineration and play with fire...while creating a steel sculpture.

...and the children headed off dutifully to school, like good little kids should. Better to be at school and learn their studies than get toasted by Master Corporal Douglas and their dad.

Haruo kept talking to the plants (yeah, try begging for forgiveness) while River made strides in her scrap sculpture (what is it?). Yeah, I don't think the plants are responding.

I think Haruo finally gave up, went inside and went upstairs to go paint with his wife...

Braden got off work at around 1330hrs and headed home, just missing the two-taxi collision at the corner of Municipal and First.

Man, looks like those ICBC rates are going to go up after that one for that taxi-company. Just who are the drivers that Yellow Cab hires...anyways?!

Evidently Caitlin was busy after-school playing the Zombie Shuffle video game. Is that what School District Supervisors do on their time off instead of researching new curriculum to force down the throats of staff and students? Yeah...looks like School District 97 is sorely in need of some revamping.

River came back from dealing with some of the deliveries that she had to do for her commissioned paintings and ended up talking to a family member about something or the other.

Haruo ate some dinner while chatting with Braden...and then had to fend off an unwanted suitor call.

River got busy with another scrap-metal sculpture.

...and when she was done, Haruo got busy with showing River just how much he adored her.

Awwwwwwwww
